In the summer of 2022 I was asked by Marres House for Contemporary Culture to compile a publication inspired by the beautiful garden behind the house.

This publication contains various assignments with the garden of Marres as a starting point. The Marres garden has a rich history and offers space for large fig trees, flowering shrubs such as hawthorn, winter jasmine, and red-leaved elderberry, ferns and flowers such as tulips, dahlias, apple trees and a monumental ice house. The garden is populated by a large number of birds, insects, butterflies, toads and frogs. The participating artists were asked to connect their own practice with the walled garden.

Participating artists are: Anne Büscher, Anne Geene, Axel De Marteau, Elisa Verkoelen, Floor Martens, Imke van Boekhold, Marjet Zwaans, Merel Van de Casteele, Sanne Vaassen and Sonja Tara.

The Walled Garden is available with a matching bookmark and Marres pencil in the reception of Marres or the webshop.
